Hello!
Has Governor Dean ever visited your community, spoken at your event or sat next to you on a plane? If you've seen or heard the Governor in the last five years, chances are we had something to do with it. As the Governor's schedulers, we have enjoyed the pleasure (and pain) of putting together the good doctor's schedule since 2000. From his days as Governor of Vermont, presidential candidate, Chairman of Democracy for America and now as Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, we have been there every step of the way.

We've corresponded with thousands of you on scheduling requests, coordinated countless events, bill signings, phone calls, photo-ops, car rides and plane flights. We have been awakened at all hours of the night when those planes didn't take off, a banner wasn't delivered, a payment needed authorizing or a volunteer required help. Yes, folks, it's a tough job but somebody's gotta do it. What has made it all worth it is of course, our boss, Governor Dean. There is really no better boss in politics.

Two months ago, your two favorite gluttons for punishment undertook another nearly insurmountable challenge--the AIDS Marathon 2005. By the time marathon day rolls around, we will have cumulatively run 1000 miles and raised a minimum of $6,800 for the Whitman-Walker Clinic; supporting the fight against AIDS and the spread of HIV.
For the past two months we've launched our own "sleepless summer"--this time in the name of charity. Our grueling training regime has included early Saturday morning group runs and weekly individual runs. This adventure has been challenging--both physically and mentally. Each weekend, as our distances have increased, we have pushed ourselves further than we thought we could.

While the experience for us is partially about personal accomplishment, it is ultimately about the cause. With over 20 million deaths to date, AIDS is now the leading killer of people ages 15 to 59 worldwide. Nearly 1 in every 20 adults in the District of Columbia is currently living with HIV/AIDS. The money that we raise benefits the Whitman-Walker Clinic, the largest provider of services to those suffering from HIV/AIDS in Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia. The Clinic provides medical support, food, housing and other services to patients and families.
Please visit our website to track our training progress and show your support. Thank you.
Gratefully,
Sarah Buxton and Chris Canning
Schedulers to Governor Howard Dean, (2000 - present)
